Equipping youth for advancing the Kingdom of God through challenge and encounterUpward Challenge is our double-impact youth camp. It's designed to help young people grow in their discipleship by learning to co-operate with the Holy Spirit, using key teaching materials adapted from the Dunamis Project. Participants discover how to live life in 4D - adding-in the spiritual dimension and becoming more effective as God's agents here on earth.
For some young people the impact goes even deeper. A major component of Upward Challenge is developing young leaders, and so we invest significant time and engery into helping a handful of them to learn how to be spiritual leaders, including mentoring and also involving them in some of the key leadeship roles. They have the privilege of receiving extra support, with hands-on learning about how to be a leader in the Kingdom of God.
The UK Director for Upward Challenge is Rev Catey Morrison, a URC Minister in Redcar with 4 children, 2 dogs and one husband. She used to help run the Crossfire youth camps, has done a sponsored walk in a wheely-bin, and loves photography. She's in charge of the whole event, and is passionately excited about the impact it can have on young people.
As with all of our events, the leadership team have participated in the Dunamis Project equipping events and embody its ethos and theology.
Held at the Barnes Close Centre near Birmingham, with space for about 50 teenagers and young adults. This year's theme is about faith-filled prayer that moves mountains. Upward Challenge has its own website where you can find loads more information and booking details: www.upwardchallenge.org.uk.
